Notes From the Path #1
I learned Spanish 10–15 minutes at a time.
Ahora puedo hablar en español.
There was no dramatic breakthrough. I simply kept returning to it until something that once felt foreign became part of my life.
I learned to ride a bicycle with no hands the same way.
I did not practice every now and then. I practiced constantly. Small attempts became longer attempts. Awkward moments became natural movement.
The same principle shapes my physical health.
Some days, I work out in my bedroom with nothing more than dumbbells and ten focused minutes. Those workouts are short, but they are intense. In ten minutes, I give my body something many people keep promising themselves they will begin someday.
None of these choices looked life-changing while I was making them.
That is the strange thing about change.
It usually feels small while it is happening.
We keep waiting for the perfect plan, the free weekend, the sudden motivation, or the dramatic breakthrough.
Meanwhile, the lives we want are often waiting inside ten intentional minutes.
Ten minutes of undistracted conversation can strengthen a marriage.
Ten minutes of listening can change your relationship with a child.
Ten minutes of walking can begin changing your health.
Ten minutes of reading can reshape your thinking.
Ten minutes of quiet can reveal what has been buried beneath the noise.
Ten minutes of prayer can reconnect your heart to God.
Ten minutes of practicing a skill can eventually give you an ability you once thought belonged only to someone else.
Small does not mean insignificant.
Small actions become habits.
Habits shape character.
Character creates direction.
And direction, given enough time, becomes a life.
You probably do not need another motivational speech.
You probably do not need more information.
You may simply need to become more intentional with ten of the minutes already in your hands.
Because your minutes will always add up to your memories.
Choose them wisely.
A Moment for the Path
What part of your life could begin changing with ten intentional minutes today?
Choose one thing.
Do it today… Then return to it again tomorrow.
